Описание к видео ADDITIONAL FINGERLOOP Techniques for Beginners- 5 and 7 Loop HERJOLFSNES Braids!

This video is an add on to my how-to guide which will help you get started with fingerloop braiding. If you haven’t seen that one, check it out here!
   • BEGINNERS guide to FINGERLOOP braidin...

BEGINNERS guide to FINGERLOOP braiding. Simple 3 loop version of the HERJOLFSNES braid.

A variety of these types of braided cord were found decorating and reenforcing the garments found at Herjolfsnes in Greenland.
This unusual method of braiding is worked using loops of thread rather than strands, with 5 and 7 loop braids being the most common. The first video takes you through the basics of the technique, and is full of useful hints and tips for working with these braids, while this video is an add on which demonstrates the 5 loop, and the 7 loop versions of the basic technique. This 3-loop technique is a great place to start before working up to these!
This video particularly looks at how to manage the frequent swapping of fingers necessary while braiding, which is the trickiest part!

Special mention here of my friends over a Puppet Vikings,    / @puppetvikings   one of whom taught me this braiding method in camp on a ridiculously hot afternoon! Some of you have mentioned using my videos to teach your younglings, so you may want to check them out as they have fun videos showing lots of the things we Vikings get up to, both in camp, and on the battlefield!
