INTRODUCTION- Make a SIMPLE Viking Age TUNIC or DRESS!

Need to make a tunic or dress but don’t know where to start….look no further!

This series overview video is a brief introduction to the new series i'm working on- How to Make a Simple Viking Age Tunic (Kirtle) or Dress.

This series is aimed at beginners, but still may contain some handy hints for those who are a few years in. It is by no means the only way to make this simple garment, but it's one that works well for me. I’ve tried, tested and improved on it over the last 5 years with every one I have made.

So, we are going to start at the very beginning with tools and equipment you will need, how to get a good set of measurements that you can use for a variety of garments, how to add in ease, make your own pattern diagrams and cutting plans, choose fabric and prep it for cutting and then how to make each part of the garment broken down into sections.

Each video in the series will lead on to the next, so we have our groundwork solid before we move on to the next step. I will try and get them out as regularly as I can but please bear with me as I battle some health stuff, roadworks outside my front window (yay) and start of the season group admin responsibilities!

There will be PDF’s to go with many of the videos, with written instructions and printable record sheets you can use to keep track of your experiments, as well as a step by step guide to the sewing process that will be released once the series is finished.

I’m really excited about this project. It was the first idea I had for the channel but I wanted to wait until I had a bit more experience making videos before jumping into it, and now here we are!
