Robot bass clarinet---the bass function role in this band, the low notes you hear are coming from this amplified, effected bass clarinet, inspired by Eddie Harris, Don Ellis, Ian Underwood and Miles Davis; built in consultation with Perry Tee, Throb Henson, Tadas Paegle and Set Benjamin Bortolotti.

Live October 31, 2001 -- Halloween, Samhain extravaganza -- in Chicago at Martyr's, a pretty big club for us at the time, we had been working up to shows of this capacity for almost 2 years. Originally, much preparation and intention went into this show as it was to be a CD release show for our debut album "occidental hygiene" (which you can find here: https://magnesium.bandcamp.com/album/.... In true rock 'n roll backhanded fashion, however, the small record label, Ideal Endeavor, that had agreed to press and release the album disappeared in a puff of ineptitude leaving us with a small handful of great sounding, no artwork demo style CDs and were never heard from again.

We carried on and delivered a very well-rehearsed, high energy show at least half of which was delivered in full costume and latex mask clad slasher film villain style. Many of our best songs -- Icon of Prevention, Alley 608, Fistface -- were caught on video only at this show which I would consider the peak phase of the band.

magnesium was the Cornelius Boots led prog-rock, industrial funk power trio, active in Chicago from 2000-2002 and again in Oakland and San Francisco 2004-2005. Both magnesium and its predecessor Faun Tumnus were fueled by the fever dreams of the one and only robot bass clarinet, a true rock bass clarinet manifestation.
