To remove the radio unit, first you will have to remove the middle console. Then plastic trim pieces around the shifter and then you will be able to access screws that are holding the radio in place. There will be 4 screws on each side. Once removed pull out the radio partially, and remove 4 screws holding the climate controls in place. Remove the radio cover, separate climate controls and pull out the radio.
Definitely not the easiest diy project, but doable.
