Nat Bhairav (or also written as Nut Bhairav) (Hindi: नट भैरव) is a Hindustani classical heptatonic (Sampurna) raga of Bhairav Thaat. Traditionally it is a morning raga. It is one of the most important ragas of the Bhairav anga.

Sarasangi in Carnatic music has the same scale as the Nat Bhairav in Hindustani music.

Theory
Writing about the musical theory of Hindustani music is fraught with complications. Firstly, there have been no set, formal methods of written notation. Secondly, Hindustani music is an aural tradition, and therefore writing is not an essential part of learning. However, Nat Bhairav is a morning raga. The raga reflects the mood of slight pathos with heroic exuberance.

While the above is true, modern (20th century) treatment of the Raga is slightly different. The basic Chalan of the Raga has de facto shifted the Vadi-Samvadi (Point-Counterpoint) duo to Re-Dha; and the basic characteristic phrase has become Re-Dha-Re, Re-Ga, Ga-Ma, Ma-Pa; Ma-NiDha-Pa, Ga-(Ma)-Re-Sa; Sa-'NiSa-'Dha.

Raag Description: This Raag is a combination of Raag Nut in Poorvang and Raag Bhairav in Uttarang. There are a lot of varieties of Raag Nut, namely Nut Bhairav, Nut Bihag, Nut Malhar, Nut Bilawal. Out of these Raags, Nut Bhairav is a relatively new Raag but a very melodious one. This Raag has been made popular by Pt. Ravi Shankar.

विशेष - राग नट भैरव, राग नट और राग भैरव से मिल कर बना है। पुर्वांग में राग नट और उत्तरांग में राग भैरव। राग नट का स्वरूप है - म ग म रे ; सा रे रे ग ; ग म म प ; म ग म रे ; सा रे सा। और राग भैरव का स्वरूप है - प ध१ ध१ प ध१ नि सा' ; सा' नि ध१ प ; प म ग म। राग भैरव के इन स्वरों के बाद रे ग ग म ; रे रे सा ; ये स्वर जोडने से राग नट भैरव सामने आता है।

राग नट के अन्य मिश्रित प्रकार हैं जैसे - नट बिहाग, नट मल्हार व नट बिलावल। राग नट के इन प्रकारों में राग नट भैरव अपेक्षाकृत नया है, परंतु बहुत ही मधुर और आकर्षक राग है। इस राग की प्रकृति गंभीर है। यह एक उत्तरांग प्रधान राग है।0
