Gedan Barai ... Lower Block or Arm lock?

Gedan Barai (Lower Sweep/parry) or Gedan Uke (Lower block) is a fundamental basic commonly practiced in a wide variety of Japanese Bujutsu systems. Frequent for example in many Karate Kata it is often just viewed as a basic blocking technique but of course we know it can be so much more. This video looks at some of the key details which make it a highly effective arm lock.
