Adar Suite | The Rings of Power: Season Two (Original Soundtrack) by Bear McCreary

Adar's theme was one of my favorite character themes from season one of The Rings of Power, and I'm happy that for season two, Bear managed to elevate upon it and truly cement the textures and ideas that make it work so well. Adar's theme is now almost always played through a native american flute to cement both his tragedy and otherworldliness, and as the season progresses his theme starts to take on more tragic and sorrowful figures that perfectly convey his complexities and deeper feelings. While his theme is able to be expanded upon in numerous new emotional settings, it's hard to deny just how badass Bear has made Nampat this season, arguably moreso than season one. Adar's orc chant/march is now his permanent action representative, the percussive drum beats battling on as the chanting shouts atop the chaos, the march twisting and turning from subtle, tense variations into versions so frantic and chaotic it hardly retains it's original shape. It's truly astounding to see Bear elaborate on this theme for season two, and in a way that sounds not just more confident in its soundscape, but also so rife with the menace, tragedy, and nuance that a character like Adar deserves.
