LaTeX Tutorial Part I: Installation And Basic Document Structure

This is the first of a series of LaTeX tutorials geared toward scientific writing and scientific communication. We'll address obtaining and installing a LaTeX distribution, obtaining and installing an editor, and creating your first simple but functional LaTeX document. Our first document will give you an opportunity to practice setting the document class, loading packages, setting the front-matter (title, author, date, etc.), creating an abstract, organizing your document into structural sections, and using the label and reference system effectively with counters.
