In this video from Partzilla.com, we’re installing a billet clutch kit on our YXZ1000R.

This unit is eventually having a turbo installed, and because of that, we wanted to perform a YXZ1000R clutch upgrade first. This will allow the clutch to better handle the added power from the turbo upgrade. Our YXZ1000 was previously equipped with a Rekluse clutch kit, and we’re switching to a Yamaha billet clutch for our YXZ.

We’ll start by opening the clutch. Some of the bolts at the bottom have copper washers, and you’ll need to take note of their locations. With the bolts removed, we’ll begin disassembling the clutch and removing the clutch basket. On the back of the clutch basket there is a gear we’ll re-use, and John will show you how to remove it.

With the old clutch removed, we’ll start building everything back up. This will involve bolting that gear onto the new basket and getting it installed. Then, we’ll start adding our clutch plates. Above, you’ll see that you need 13 fiber plates and 12 metal clutch plates for this stack. When we’re done, we’ll get the clutch closed back up.
