Yamaha YXZ1000R Engine Rebuild | YXZ1000 Engine Teardown | YXZ1000 Turbo Installation | Partzilla

Описание к видео Yamaha YXZ1000R Engine Rebuild | YXZ1000 Engine Teardown | YXZ1000 Turbo Installation | Partzilla

We’re doing a rebuild on our YXZ1000R engine, and that starts with the teardown.

In this video from Partzilla.com, we’re taking the first steps to prepare this engine for a new turbo. We’ve already installed a gear reduction kit on our YXZ1000:    • Yamaha YXZ1000R Gear Reduction Kit | ...

There’s not really anything wrong with this engine, but we need to drop the compression ratio so that it will work its best with the turbo. We’re adding forged pistons and new connecting rods from Wiseco, but before we do any of that we need to break this motor down.

We’ll start with the throttle bodies, venting, and other bolt-ons, and then we’ll dive into the motor itself. Then we’ll work our way through the head-- taking care to remove the head bolts in a measured way so that we can avoid warping the head itself.

Next, we’ll disassemble the bottom of the engine and split the crankcase open to finish off this part of the project. When we’re done, we’re sending this engine off to the machine shop so that they can work through the cases and head to make sure everything is right before we start the build.
