Some people swear by bands, others wouldn't be seen dead with anything but a big chunk of iron in their hands, but which is really better for for building strength and muscle size? Is iron worth its weight in gold, or will resistance bands stretch us to our limits?

Ultimately it is all about getting the right amount of resistance at the right point of an exercise to ensure that you are both pushing yourself, but also remaining injury free, and different exercises are best done with different equipment. There's all sorts of exercises for most muscle groups though, so you can almost always find a good way to work out using just bands or just weights if that's all you have.

That being said, bands are cheap, light and small, so they really are a great way to get a workout. All you really need is something solid to anchor them too, like a door, pull up bar or railing.
