Salento, Colombia: A Hidden Paradise or Overhyped Tourist Trap?

Is it really worth a visit? This amazing place is home to the world's largest palm trees. The Cocora Valley in Salento is said to be one of the best places to visit in Colombia. However, this stunning Disney inspiring town is a little bit further out, compared to nearly all other tourist attractions in Colombia.
So is it worth the detour?

In this episode I'll be exploring the town of Salento and it's stunning, colourful streets, as well as jumping on (literally) a jeep to head over to the nearby Cocora Valley (or in Spanish, Valle de Cocora). The jeep ride in itself was a great adventure and I highly recommend it. Although the weather in the Cocora Valley can be a little unpredictable and you will dodge the fog! I advise going early to give you the best chance at the weather throughout the day.

The town itself inspired the Disney film Encanto and it is really easy to see why! There are colourful streets, cafés, restaurants and endless shops. So whether you are on a budget or splashing some cash there is a food option for you.
