Eps 22 - Touring Lembata - Riding Around Mount Lewotolo - Around Indonesia on my Small Motorcycle

Lembata is definitely a hidden gem. To be honest, I had never heard of the place until I got to Flores, where I'm so glad to have met Mr. Toni, a good friend who is a treasure trove of knowledge about this little-known island. On this first ride on the island, I rode around Mount Lewotolo, also known locally as Ile Ape, a very active volcano which erupted as recently as February 2024. In 2021, a severe eruption resulted in the evacuation of most of the residents living in the villages around the mountain. The road, mostly coastal, is in poor condition with many lengths covered with gravel and loose rocks making the journey a bit difficult, however the scenery more than makes up for this.
