In the seventh chapter, Rabbit decides that something has to be done to make Tigger less bouncy. He decides that he, Pooh and Piglet should take Tigger on "a long explore" to a place that he has never been to before and then lose him. When they find him the next morning he will be a changed Tigger, humbler, sadder, sorrier and unbounced. However, this is not the way the plan plays out.

They all go off in very misty weather the next morning and a long way from home they give Tigger the slip, hiding in a hollow till he has completely disappeared. They then attempt to make their own way back home through the mist.

Rabbit insists that he knows the way home but doesn’t. After several failed attempts by Rabbit, Winnie-the-Pooh leads Piglet off in a completely different direction and they eventually arrive home safely.

A much-changed, humbler, sadder, sorrier and more grateful Rabbit on the other hand had to be rescued from the Forrest later that day by Tigger who, after getting separated from the others, had happily gone straight off home. It turns out Tiggers never get lost.
