INTO THE WOODS - Generative Ambient Eurorack (Spectraphon // Rainmaker// Arbhar // Plonk // Magneto)

Описание к видео INTO THE WOODS - Generative Ambient Eurorack (Spectraphon // Rainmaker// Arbhar // Plonk // Magneto)

Hi!
In this patch i wanted to create a scenery.
I'm standing in a forest, everything is covered in green and birds are chirping around me. Again and again you can hear the wind blowing through the leaves, the trunks surrounding me bend and bump into each other. It creates an echo that gets lost in the depths of the forest.
The animals in the forest don't notice me. They rustle in the bushes and occasionally show themselves as they dart from one to the other. I can vaguely hear human activity in the distance.

As always:
Feedback of any kind - concerning the patch as well as the mix - is very welcome!
Especially constructive and critical feedback helps me to develop further!

Patchnotes:

Drone

Both oscillators of the Buchla 258t and a white noise from the Doepfer A 118-2 are mixed together in a Erica Synth Pico Mixer. From there it goes mono into the Make Noise Q-PAS and mono out of the Smilepas into an Intellijel Quad VCA and then into the Expert Sleepers ES9.

The filter frequency of the Q-PAS is modulated by a slow triangle LFO from Xaoc Devices Batumi. Both radiate parameters are modulated by two different outputs from DivKids Ochd. Also slow triangle LFOs.
In the Quad VCA the volume is modulated by Mutable Instruments Stages. Stages glides back and forth between two values.

PAD + Deep Base Tone

The odd and even + sine out of the left side of the Spectraphon in SAM mode - sequenced by the Vermona Melodicer - is mixed together in a Quad VCA and then multed. A copy goes into the Intellijel Rainmaker. The signal passes through the delay section and the comb filter separately and is summed at the output. The mix knob is set to fully wet. From there it goes directly into the ES9.

Make Noise Maths creates an envelope for the VCA. The slide parameter of Spectraphone is modulated by Ochd. The feedback of the Rainmaker's delay section is modulated by a relatively slow pulse wave from Batumi. Switching between low and high feedback.

PAD Layer

Another copy of Spectraphon's out goes into the Qu Bit Nautilus with two delay lines and internal saturation. From there it goes into the ES 9.

Fading Melody

A Mutable Instruments Rings - sequenced by Mutable Instruments Marbles - runs through a Shakmat Dual Dagger Stereo Filter and is then multed. A copy goes into a Quad VCA and then into the ES9. Because I'm still waiting for my 4ms Dual Looping Delay to be repaired, I was missing a delay here, which is why I was forced to load a delay into the channel in my DAW (Bitwig, Delay+).

In the VCA, the signal is modulated in volume via a 200-second envelope from Xaoc Devices Zadar and is also saturated.

Bird-like effect

Another copy of the filtered Rings runs into the Qu Bit Databender, which is in Micro Mode.

The Bend parameter switches back and forth between two values via Stages and thus changes the pitch regularly. Stages gets a random trigger from the Erica Synth Pico Logic.

Wooden Echo

The sequence of the Melodicer goes into the Intellijel Shifty in random mode. A CV Out goes into the Intellijel Plonk, which has selected the Clang Wood preset. The gate goes first - together with a gate out of the Doepfer A-160-2 Clock Divider - into an input of the Pico Logic. This means that the Plonk can potentially only be triggered for 4 bars every 8 bars.
From Plonk it goes mono into the Strymon Magneto in shift mode with all four playheads activated, which goes mono into the ES9.

Sound effects / Forest sounds

I used several recording buffers from Instruos Arbhar to record some percussion from my collection. I also recorded a hand-played melody with Rings.
Arbhar runs into a Mutable Instruments Clouds Clone (Monsoon) in Looping Delay Mode, which then runs into a Quad VCA. From there the signal goes into the ES9.

Arbhar's buffer selection is modulated by a slow LFO from a Mutable Instruments Peaks Clone (ALPS). The playhead is modulated by an LFO from Stages. In the VCA, the volume is modulated by a 25-second envelope from Zadar.

Another Sound in the Background

Lastly I recorded a melody with rings that I played by hand into Lubdah. Since it didn't fit in well with the rest, I ran it backwards and put it in the background. Lubdah is in one-shot mode and is triggered every 128 bars by Pam's New Workout.

Birds

In Bitwig I ran a sample with twittering of birds, which I got from a sample pack.

I used Eventide Space (Tremoloverb-Algorithm) for Reverb.

I mixed & mastered with the following plug-ins:

Oeksound Soothe2
Fabfilter Pro-Q
Fabfilter C2
Fabfilter Saturn 2
Wavesfactory Trackspacer 2
Ozone 11
