One Life to Live 2/27/1989

[Eterna Continues.]
The following morning, Asa and Clint are frustrated that they can’t drill and aren’t getting any closer to rescuing Viki and the others. Viki is frantic when she discovers Roger hasn’t returned yet, but luckily he emerges from the tunnel just as she is starting to panic. Roger announces he’s found a way out: the river leads to an underground cavern, and a fissure in the wall shows some daylight. They need to gather tools and start chipping away at that fissure until they can tunnel out. Above them, Clint realizes the easiest way into Eterna would be to bulldoze where the river meets the mountain. At the hospital, Brenda is answering phones in the ER. Larry scolds her for working on her day off instead of thinking about her baby. She promises to leave soon, but when a call comes in from Clint requesting an EMS team for when they get everyone out of Eterna, Brenda volunteers to go along and help. Wade tells Cord he loves Mari Lynn and that’s who he wants to be with, not Christine, but he’s not so sure she’ll have him back.

Bo admits to Sarah that she’s been on his mind constantly and is the only thing that helps him forget about Eterna for a little while. Megan arrives at the studio, and she and Sarah fight about getting stuck watching C.J. last night. Bo announces to the cast that until they get good news from Llantano Mountain, he’s postponing the location shoot and cutting Mari Lynn and Megan’s scenes down to a minimum. After his announcement, Neil and Casey discuss how unfair it is for Mari Lynn’s character to be sidelined and Audrey’s character to be made Carnival Queen instead. Later, as Audrey is practicing her lines, we see a pair of hands pick up the end of her scarf, insert it into the fan, and turn the fan on. Audrey screams for help as the scarf tightens around her throat. In Eterna, Gabrielle insists she is going after the treasure and Michael warns her she’ll kill herself and everyone else in the process. Despite her warnings, Gabrielle tries to steal a staff from a gold statue and Eterna’s self-destruct mechanism seems to kick into high gear. Tina tries to wrest the staff away from her and falls through a trap door.
