NEW CRIMINALS LAWS ARE GOING TO REPLACE THE OLD CRIMINAL LAWS. (MAJOR CENTRAL ACTS)
BHARATIYA NYAYA SANHITA, 2023 (BNS) will replace old criminal law INDIAN PENAL CODE,(IPC) 1860.
BHARATIYA NAGARIK SURAKSHA SANHITA, 2023 (BNSS) will replace old criminal law CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE, 1973.
BHARATIYA SAKSHYA ADHINIYAM 2023 (BSA) will replace old criminal law INDIAN EVIDENCE ACT, 1872.
ABOVE ALL will come into effect on July 1, 2024.

BHARATIYA NYAYA SANHITA, 2023 (BNS) will replace old criminal law INDIAN PENAL CODE,(IPC) 1860.
Need for change by keeping in mind the present day.
Even after 75 years of independence, IPC continued the British-era with outdated provisions that did not align with the evolving modern rights, including digital era and increase of various new crimes in the 21st Centuary..
BNS gives a message to the people, from punishment as core to justice as the core.

ipc: Total sections: 511
bns: Total sections: 358
bns :Addition of sections (ex : Snatching, terrorist act etc..)
bns : Deletion of sections (ex: definition of Queen, definition of Govt of india etc.. )
bns: Added new punishments like community services for 6 offences, brought all the definitions into section-2, offences against women and children in one chapter, brought serious offences in the beginning sections, (ex=Sec-101-murder) etc.
bns: Mandatory minimum punishment –in 23 offences.

bns: Punishment of imprisonment increased in 33 offences.
