OIL PAINTING TIME-LAPSE DEMO: Painting a portrait of Julie & Faye

A short time-lapse demo video showing the painting process used in my portrait of Julie and her beautiful daughter Faye.

Oils on Canvas, 100cm x 70cm.
This was a commissioned painting. I had a 2 hr sitting with Julie and Faye, just a couple of weeks after Faye was born, , in which I was able to get a series of reference photographs. The final composition was a combination of a few of these different photos.

The painting was completed in the studio concurrently alongside 3 other portraits over the period of 2 months.

Materials used:
Daley pre-stretched pro Cotton medium grain canvas.
Paints: Michael Harding and Winsor and Newton oils.
Brushes: assorted non branded
Thinner: Turpentine
Medium: Liquin
Varnish: Talons spray

Colour palette used:
I like to keep a fairly simple palette, warm and cool of each is usually enough to mix most tones. I never use black :
Titanium White
Cadmium yellow
Lemon yellow
Cadmium red
Alizarin Crimson
Phthalo blue
French Ultramarine

Additional colours:
Flesh tint
Yellow ochre
Raw Umber
