Описание к видео The Battle of Ulundi - Napoleon Total War: Anglo-Zulu War Mod

After the disastrous first invasion of Zululand, Chelmsford set about reorganising the army for a second Invasion before his replacement - Garnet Wolseley - could arrive. This second invasion was more heavily reinforced and consisted of 25,000 men - 16,000 Britons, 7,000 Africans and 2,000 Boers. Chelmsford's column arrived near Ulundi and on July 3rd held a cavalry skirmish with a few thousand Zulu warriors. The next day, 4th July 1879, his column formed into a square of 5200 men and horse. Around 10,000 Zulus charged at the square in a Horseshoe formation but stood little chance against four ranks of line infantry, 12 cannons and 2 Gatling guns. The 17th lancers and other mounted units pursued the fleeing Zulus once they had broken. The battle marked the destruction of Cetshwayo's army, which had already suffered crushing defeats in earlier battles. The Zulus lost 1,000 warriors on that day and at the cost of only 14 British and South African soldiers. After the battle, Chelmsford's army depredated then burnt the Zulu capital of Ulundi then ended the war between the Kingdom.
