     EDIT: As of the GxK season, MG21 got his stats increased and Kong is now 5 cost. I originally thought MG21 was superior to Kong, but now I'm unsure. Both units have a hard ass time doing anything in today's meta, cause they're slow and have such short range. But if I had to choose, at least Kong is one cost cheaper. Welp now back to the original description.

Mechagodzilla 2021 was possibly the all time most requested character to join the game since launch. Now we can all stop asking Sir Melee when he will be added. I used MG21 a lot in ranked this season, and while he looks absolutely awesome, I gotta say he's not great. There's a couple glaring issues holding this guy back.

MG21 is a 6 cost ground unit with very high stats. He walks slow which is good for a tank like him and it is easy to build a decent push with him, especially on London. His attack changes depending on how much health he has remaining, with each one dealing more damage than the last. At good health he does a single target tail stab. At around half hp he does a wide punch that has aoe and the sickest animation out of the three. And at low health he does a very destructive missile barrage that has aoe as well. Unfortunately he cannot target air units, but the missile barrage can still hit them. The missiles are quite powerful too. MG21 can splash an entire push with damage comparable to a G89. It's so satisfying when he gets multiple shots off. But that's where his pros end.

     MG21's range is absolutely atrocious. He basically has to clip through his enemies to hit them. This I believe is the worst thing about MG21, even worse than not hitting air units. Range is a super important stat in this game, possibly the most important stat. The fact that MG21 has to sometimes eat 3 hits from an enemy before he can even get in range is terrible. And what's worse is he has no reason to be that close. The attacks themselves reach much farther, so why the hell is he getting so close to them when he can just shoot? You don't see King Ghidorah getting that close to an enemy with his giant aoe attack. Speaking of his attacks, the tail stab sucks obviously, but it's supposed to, the punch has pitifully small aoe. You'll be lucky to hit 2 units at once with it. And finally, the missile hitbox is way smaller than the red fan displays. Its more like half that size. Also, if MG21 dies while using them, they will deal no damage at all. Unlike Kiryu and Minilla, who's shots will still land if they die during the attack. This is the same issue that the Air Base has, where if the helicopters get destroyed the missiles will disappear. Why do some projectiles stay out after death while others are removed? It's just unfair, bad design and should be fixed.

And for these reasons I'm not too much of a fan of MG21. Toho really kinda did the Monsterverse units dirty. They don't feel as polished as the other collab units. G21 has a targeting bug, Kong doesn't have his axe, and Mechagodzilla has horrid range and disappearing missiles. What a letdown. Now these units can be great with a few small changes, obviously, but until then, I would recommend you save or invest your resources elsewhere.

    Also, I am NOT taking a look at the new leaders by the way. They're fucking garbage as usual. There is no point in doing a vid on them when I'm just going to be running the same units I like with a useless leader that contributes nothing to the team for the 3rd time. I'd much rather save my time and sanity. But heres a quick review for those that care.

G21 leader is an abomination against god. He has the same attack he does as a unit, so if he changes targets, which leaders do a LOT, his damage will reset. His ability reduces the cost of close range units by 1, but it costs fucking 4 to use. Meaning, you need to send out 5 close range units just to make up for what you spent to use it in the first place! There will almost never be a situation where this comes in handy. What the fuck were they thinking?

MG21 is better but not great. His ability inflicts a debuff on fliers so they can be hit by ground units. This is an awesome ability but why the hell does it cost 4 and have a 120s cooldown? It's not a game winning ability or anything like Kiryu and Eva. It sucks that you can only use it twice per battle. It also only effects the fliers currently on the board, so if your opponent sends out any more they wont be affected. I hope they improve this ability or release a new unit with this debuff.
