What do Zappa Hops Taste Like? SMaSH Beer Experiment

We add Zappa hops to the growing list of SMaSH beers where we explore new hops in a simple small batch format.

This one perplexed our palates. Zappa hops have a very strong aroma and flavor component for only being 5.5% Alpha Acid in content. However we both detected something very woody and/or herbal in the aroma that didn't really draw us in. John described the aroma/flavor at one point as somewhat diesel like in character.

Its hard to imagine what you'd pair this hop with so we'd like to hear from you. Have you used Zappa Hops yet in a brew? What are your thoughts on Zappa Hops?
