THE SEA OF MOUNTAINS was commissioned by and in honor of the 75th anniversary Pennsylvania Collegiate Bandmasters Association Intercollegiate Band. The piece premiered March 12, 2023 at the 75th ICB Festival under the direction of Guest Conductor Gary D. Green at Steadman Theater on the campus of Mansfield University of Commonwealth University of PA.
According to American composer Matthew Jackert (born 1988) "The Sea of Mountains refers to an experience I had flying over the Appalachians. It wasn't the first flight I've taken over them, or even a particularly interesting one, but it was the first time I noticed the mountains looking like waves of an ocean forming through time on the slowest of scales."
GREATER MIAMI SYMPHONIC BAND, with great pride, presents this magnificent and exciting performance of THE SEA OF MOUNTAINS by MATTHEW JACKFERT.
