GREATER MIAMI SYMPHONIC BAND is delighted to present this exuberant performance of SYMPHONIC DANCES from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF by JERRY BOCK, artfully arranged by Ira Hearshen, with GMSB Music Director Robert Longfield on the podium.
The play "Fiddler on the Roof" opened on Broadway sixty years ago, in 1964. It was the first musical to surpass 3,000 performances, and it held the record for longest-running Broadway musical for almost 10 years. The play's success led to the making of the movie version in 1971, and together they won the Tony for best score, and the Oscar for best score adaptation, respectively. Arranger Ira Hearshen has gathered the most majestic and magical dance music from this great musical and incorporated it into a medley that is sure to get your feet tapping.
