Meeting Charles Martinet at GalaxyCon Live - October 24th, 2020

I had such an incredible time speaking with Charles Martinet. The conversation was informative because I absorbed so much from his responses to some of my questions and points that I had. It’s incredibly amazing that he travels around the world frequently. Even if he isn’t scheduled to appear at a gaming event overseas, he still embarks on these trips as a hobby. It is what I hope to do with my life eventually because I believe it’s good for one’s soul. That’s why aside from Super Mario 3D World, Odyssey is another one of my favorite games in the Mario franchise. Martinet’s reassurances in light of the 3DS being discontinued and the dread that Nintendo will pull the plug on Wii U’s eShop any day now was comforting. I perceived his carefree outlook on life as a light in the dark.

1:18 Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon was the first game I played in that spinoff and eight years later, I still haven’t finished it yet. Luckily, I’m almost finished with it and given how I find the Luigi’s Mansion series to be a more hysterical, Scooby Doo-esque alternative to Ghostbusters, I definitely plan take Martinet up on his recommendation.

HorrorKid, an online friend of mine who I first met on a Discord server in the Fall 2020 term in university and had my back since then, couldn’t make it to the event so he requested me to ask Martinet on his behalf if he recalled lending his voice to a couple of characters in Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time & Skyrim respectively. It turns out that he still does very well because the voice of that character in the former honored a friend that was close to him. It’s sad, but also quite humble at the same time.
