Eimi Wakui|F. Kreisler - Prelude and Allegro

Описание к видео Eimi Wakui|F. Kreisler - Prelude and Allegro

This piece is one of a series of concert pieces for violin and piano by the Austrian violinist Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962), falsely attributed to Pugnani. Kreisler was a violinist prodigy who graduated at the top of honours at the Vienna Conservatory and the Paris Conservatory, and as a composer he left many masterpieces. In addition to this piece, many of his other works were published under the name of other composers. It was Kreisler himself who presented his own compositions as old manuscripts, e.g. the Concerto in the style of Vivaldi and the Grave in the style of Bach, which are mainly associated with Baroque composers.

The prelude consists of a powerful and tragic opening theme of 22 bars in all, composed entirely of marcato quarter-notes, followed by technical variations, mainly in sixteenth notes. The Allegro is a brilliantly technical part with spiccato and variolage deformations. The dramatic climax is achieved by expressive portamento and accents, and by a convulsive phrase that makes full use of heavy notes. It is also interesting to note that parts reminiscent of the Baroque period are scattered throughout the 'Allegro' piece.

Yesterday, 2 February, was his birthday!
