This is the Malaysia specialty Nyonya style Otak otak that is wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. It is very tasty and appetizing.
Best eaten with white rice. If you made extras, one can keep them in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

There are many variants of otak otak, so do try them and find out which your family like best. For us, we prefer the nyonya steamed otak-otak recipe as it is soft and moist plus with the fish in small cuts, that gives the mouth bite feel.
We used grouper fish but other fish like mackerel (ikan tenggiri) work well too.
FYI - some also call it otah otah, spicy fish cake or just spicy fish wrapped in banana leave.
