Sink or Swim: a NerdStuff Experiment

Описание к видео Sink or Swim: a NerdStuff Experiment

Will it sink or float? Why? Wes and Rem run through the house picking out items to test buoyancy. This is a low-cost, play-based, science experiment that you can set up in your sink at home. Don't forget to have your kids make a hypothesis before they their toy's buoyancy.

Materials & Setup
1) Grab a container -- clear is best, but can be anything. If you don't have anything big, try a pitcher of water, or a bucket. Alternatively, you can fill a bathtub of water too.
2) Fill the container with water. For the tub that you see here, I set the tub on the floor, and used a water pitcher to carry water to it. It took a few trips.
3) Let the kids find their own toys. Easy items to have on hand include coins, fruit, and legos. Just be prepared to nix some toys that shouldn't get wet.
4) For clean up, the tub filled with water was super heavy. I used the same water pitcher to remove water from the tub to the sink. Eventually it was light enough that I could dump out the extra water into a bathtub.
5) Have some bath towels on hand just in case water splashes or spills.
