Angel's Skin Coral, with Enzo Liverino

In the 23rd Home Gemmology webinar supported by CIBJO - The World Jewellery Confederation and co-hosted by Edward Johnson, we will go deep into one of the most appreciated precious coral varieties: Angel's skin or "pelle d'angelo" in Italian. With the precious help of our special guest Vincenzo Liverino, President of the Coral Commission of CIBJO, the trade nomenclature standards behind this type of anomalous coral varieties will be explained as well as its recent history and provenances. The most common precious coral species that produces angel's skin coral is Pleurocorallium elatius currently listed on Appendix III of CITES for monitoring and, again, the meaning of CITES listing will be further explained in light of the conservation and natural resource management concerns.
