Aerospace Applications of SAW Sensor Technology

Описание к видео Aerospace Applications of SAW Sensor Technology

This video shows how Transense Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensor technology can be used in aerospace applications to improve aircraft control, efficiency and safety with accurate non-contact measurement of strain, torque, force and temperature.

These sensors are passive on the moving component meaning there is no need for a battery or complex electronics on the moving part. The sensor is driven by a dedicated and proprietary ASIC developed by Transense which enables SAW technology to be deployed in a cost-effective manner.

The advantages of using Transense's SAW torque and temperature sensors are:
• The ability to measure micro-strain maintaining a stiff and stable mechanical system
• Highly accurate with +/-1% achievable in a typical application
• An immunity from background interference
• Completely wireless installation with small, light, and passive components only on the shaft
• High-speed torque signal
• Compact dimensions that can be easily packaged into a complex system
• Temperature readings also created
• The RF coupler can incorporate an inductive speed and position resolver
• Robust and reliable
