Spire Valley Trout Hatchery

Описание к видео Spire Valley Trout Hatchery

While fall hunting seasons garner much of the attention each October and November, fall is also a busy time for DNR Fisheries staff to stock trout from the state’s four cold-water hatcheries.
Each year, cold-water hatcheries in Altura, Lanesboro, Peterson and Remer raise 1.7 million trout annually which are stocked into 200 lakes and 100 streams throughout Minnesota. Trout going into lakes and streams can range in size from fingerlings, to yearlings, to brood stock depending on the location and individual lake and stream management plans. Each fall after the summer trout season closes, fish are stocked so they have time to adapt to their new environment before the winter trout season opens in mid-January.
A $10 trout stamp is required to fish designated trout waters and the funds help support Minnesota’s trout hatcheries.
Follow along with us for a tour of the Spire Valley hatchery near Remer - northern Minnesota’s only cold-water trout hatchery where we raise Kamloops rainbow trout and brook trout.
