Homity Pie - Great British Grub

Homity pie appears to have originated during the second world war when meat was scarce due to rationing. Some call it the Devon or Devonshire pie, so maybe that's where it originates. Anyhow this shows you don't need meat to make a tasty filling pie, and suitable for vegetarians if you use vegetarian cheese 🙂

Ingredients
700g floury potatoes
2 leeks
2 medium onions
25g butter
2 handfuls of spinach
2 cloves of garlic chopped
150g grated cheddar plus a little extra for the topping
150ml double (heavy) cream
Salt to taste and plenty of black pepper
