Santa Cruz Fingerstyle Custom with Western Red Cedar & Ancient Kauri Demo

The Santa Cruz Fingerstyle Model is one of our all-time favorites, and for all the right reasons! It is one of Santa Cruz’s original designs that has more than stood the test of time, and unquestionably has inspired a fresh take on the flattop acoustic guitar. Built not only to handle, but accel in fingerstyle applications, the FS has a tonal balance and dynamic range that puts the player in total control.

From time to time we apply some of the world’s most exquisite tonewoods to the FS, and this time around we were able to co-select these magnificent gifts from nature with the help of none other, Mr. Richard Hoover. Old Growth Master Grade Western Red Cedar was the perfect choice to lean into the classic Fingerstyle nature of this guitar. Old Cedar has been used in the finest classical instruments for generations, and we felt it an appropriate nod to use this special set of Western Red Cedar for such a guitar.

Enter Ancient Kauri… Yes, it’s old. Yes, it’s expensive. Yes, it’s amazing.

The greatness of Ancient Kauri simply cannot be ignored. This lightweight wood has a special resonance and responsiveness that is simply in a class of its own. The notes and chords seem to radiate outward from the player and create the coziest of nests to get lost in its beautiful music. This is one of the most inviting guitars to pick up, and one of the hardest to set back down. Come get lost with it today.
