From conflict to trauma: On better safety nets for journalists | GMF24

Описание к видео From conflict to trauma: On better safety nets for journalists | GMF24

With conflicts continuing to flare up worldwide, the number of war correspondents is on the rise. In addition to the conflicts they cover, these journalists have to keep additional risks in mind in their work – especial women.

The safety and integrity of media professionals depends on many factors – from thorough preparation to reliable support from their editorial offices during and after such assignments. What does this mean for a conflict journalist’s day-to-day routine? Do media organizations recognize the full extent of their responsibility to protect their employees? And can security training and similar measures keep up with the ever-changing risks both on the ground and online, while providing mental health support as well?

Panelists:
- Joan Chirwa, Founder and Executive Director of Zambia Free Press Initiative
- Sarina Panahideh, Kurdish Iranian artist and activist
- Gunnar Rechenburg, DW Akademie
