Now this is an arrangement that I've spent ages going back and forth with. As a result, I have about 4 different versions of this. The first was a solo piano arrangement. I'll definitely go back and finish it as there are very few of them around. The second ended up being a really strange arrangement with a Latin feel to it - completely unintentionally! The third attempt was where I started thinking much more seriously about what exactly I wanted to do with the arrangement. It ended up turning into a largely acoustic cover: guitars, piano and a trombone. It sounded okay, but I knew that I wanted something bigger and more exciting - similar to my 'Smooth Investigation' arrangements.

So I started by really trying to understand the original Beautiful Lie. Particularly how the chords function and how I could alter them to create a different feel from the original but still maintain its calm yet melancholy feel. After that it was just a case of having fun and seeing how far I could take it.

There's quite a few improvised phrases that seem somewhat random in terms of the actual notes being played, but there's quite a few references to other Danganronpa pieces buried within them. Some are much more obvious than others. There are 6 in total. 5 of them occur in the same section of the arrangement. I'm really curious to know whether you'll spot them!
