Altesino 2018 Rosso Di Montalcino Italian Value Wine Review

This is partly a review about this wine and partly a video about the difference between Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino. Rosso di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino are both made with the Brunello (Sangiovese Grosso) grape type. Brunello (Normale) must be aged for 5 years before release, with a minimum of 2 years in oak and 4 months in bottle. Brunello (Riserva) must be aged for 6 years before release with a minimum of 2 years in oak and 6 months in bottle. Rosso di Montalcino only has to aged for 1 years before release with a minimum of 6 months in oak.

The price of the Altesino 2018 Rosso di Montalcino is $29.99 whereas the Altesion Brunello is $61.99.

About 3000 cases of the Rosso di Montalcino was made. Wine Spectator gave it a 88 pt rating.
