Grace & Matthew || Elegant and Romantic Wedding at the Spanish Monastery in Miami

Where do I begin with this wedding?! First off, Grace is a wedding photographer in Michigan and Matthew often seconds shoots with her. So these two know weddings inside and out.

So when Grace started envisioning her wedding, she knew she wanted it to be different from a typical Michigan wedding. (Not to mention - it was snowing in Michigan the day they got married in November, ha) They cast their net wide in searching for a destination all over the US, and they stumbled upon the Spanish Monastery in Miami and immediately fell in love.

I had told myself I wasn’t traveling anymore for weddings - and quite honestly was done booking them altogether. I literally had the email drafted that essentially said I wouldn’t be available for their day - and then something gave me pause. How cool would it be to end my eight year career of filming weddings right back where I launched Regan Elizabeth Films - in my Miami hometown?! It would bring it full circle - ending where I began.

Well, I am so glad I changed my mind because Grace’s wedding was everything and then some! She meticulously crafted each detail of the day - from her incredible, custom gown from our adventure session at Vizcaya - to the exquisite centerpieces lining the cloisters during the reception. I’ve shot countless brides and I was getting CHILLS shooting their day, it was all so magical.

The day of the wedding Grace and Matthew got ready at the incredible Versace Mansion on Ocean Drive. These rooms are just…wow. Every inch of that place had our minds spinning with inspiration. I quite honestly could have spent eight hours just shooting that piece of the day alone.

The wedding ceremony at the monastery followed by the reception in the cloisters was like something out of a dream. From a cocktail hour in the garden with crepes, to a candle-lit reception in the cloisters. It felt like we were dropped somewhere in Italy.
