Dream Casting: Our Top Picks for a Harry Potter Reboot

Have you heard the good news? HBO Max seems to have their eye on adapting J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books into an entire series, adapting one book every season. This would mean that we would have to update the cast away from the one we knew from the movies, including Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, and although it’s hard for us to imagine anyone doing a better job than them, a new cast doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing! We explore fifteen options for a new cast. None of these are being officially considered (so far as we know), it’s all just for fun and the love of the Harry Potter franchise! We suggested Adam Driver for the role of Severus Snape, seeing as he’s already played a somewhat similar role as Kylo Ren on the Star Wars franchise. Mark Addy has worked with HBO before, seeing as he played King Robert Baratheon on Game of Thrones, and we can see him making a perfect Vernon Dursley! We suggested Karen Gillan, from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for the role of Lily Potter, and fellow Avengers alumni Aaron Taylor-Johnson for the role of James Potter. Multiple actors who have appeared in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings universe made it onto this list as well, including Andy Serkis who played Gollum, and Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch from the Hobbit trilogy. Michael Caine was a brilliant mentor to Batman in the Dark Knight franchise, which is part of the reason we think he’d be great as Dumbledore!
