CHASEWATER RAILWAY SANTA SPECIALS, 1st DECEMBER 2019

December 1st was the second day of the 'Santa Special' series on Chasewater Railway. The weather forecast was for full sun all day which didn't quite materialize but nevertheless some superb light showed through particularly in the late afternoon. By their very nature, the 'Santas' do not produce spectacular running although the low temperature provided some nice exhaust effects. Besides walking the line I was fortunate to be able to shoot a departure from Brownhills West from the signalbox.
Although the railway is known as The Colliery Line, I repeat a comment that I made sometime ago inasmuch that 'The Friendly Line' would be totally appropriate. I have not met with such a warm, cooperative welcome anywhere in the heritage railway fraternity. I thank all the volunteers at Chasewater and thoroughly recommend a visit, or more, to this lovely little South Staffordshire railway.
