Chasing a Rare Girard Run on the Erie Branch, and More on Bessemer & Lake Erie in July 2023!

On July 29th 2023, We chased the southbound CN U702 loaded ore out of Conneaut, with a set of four giant EMD SD70M-2s. We also go into a short history of the Bessemer’s motive power, and take a look at the Conneaut Trestle which is 90% done being replaced as of the date of posting. A few days later on the 31st, we’re out once more on the Bessemer, to chase L523 north on the old Erie Branch, a very rare move nowadays, to service Emsco Plastics on the Girard Branch. Power for this would be the last two of the Bessemer’s orange units still left in Pennsylvania.
