El-Gee - Henk Smit | WMC 2022

The Percussion Ensemble of the Vriezenveense Harmonie [NL] plays 'El Gee' as a part of their programme: "Shaping a Legacy".

Written by Henk Smit for the occasion of the Open Dutch Percussion Championships in 2014, El Gee has remained an iconic piece in the (Dutch) percussion world. Originally inspired by and named after the nickname of his daughters boyfriend, the piece features variations of a playful melody introduced in the beginning in the glockenspiel. The middle section contains a beautiful choral and comes to and end with a spectacular finale.
