Train Cab Ride NL / Long Sunset Ride! / Groningen - Zwolle - Schiphol Airport / ICM IC / June 2023

Hi everyone! Welcome on board a new cab ride on my channel. This time a little back in time due to holiday leaves at the NS offices where our videos get checked before publishing. Welcome on board the intercity from Groningen to Schiphol Airport at the 7th of June 2023. Enjoy the stunning sunset on our way to our destination.

0:00 Groningen
All the way up in the north of the country. Welcome in Groningen. We drive an ICM train set of 9 carriages. This because of an event in The Hague. The final destination for this train. We'll be driving it until Schiphol Airport.

At the left you can see the shunting yard location Onnen. At this location maintenance is done on many NS trains. Also there's space for freight trains.

The first of many province borders on our route.

First stop on the route. Assen. This station has been upgraded a while ago.

31:58 Hoogeveen (old)
As many of you know Hoogeveen had an upgrade in July. Nowadays we can pass the station with 140km/h. In this video the old situation. Of course I'll be posting a new video in the future about he new situation. Don't drive to Groningen a lot. So be patient. :)

The line coming from Leeuwarden is joining in from the right. Intercity's from/towards Leeuwarden make stops on Meppel. We don't. :)

The tracks in the dive under coming from Marienberg. After this we slow down for arrival in Zwolle.

1:05:06 Province Border Gelderland - Overijssel
We've been in Gelderland for two minutes. Time to hit another border back into Overijssel.

Stations Kampen en Kampen Zuid are both located on different train lines.

1:10:18 Drontermeertunnel (Province Border Overijssel - Flevoland)
Diving under water here. Make sure to hold your breath for a while.

1:21:10 Lelystad Opstel
On the right sight Lelystad shunting yard.

1:23:38 Lelystad Centrum
Arriving at Lelystad. On departure at this station de sun is already set. Meaning night regulation for speeding up is in place. Our last signal told us maximum 40km/h. At night time we can speed up the train after fully passing a signal that allows a higher speed.

1:33:56 ATB Track Failure
A signal in the tracks (ATB) is messed up here. Therefor we must drive on sight until the next main signal. After fully passing it we are allowed to gain speed again.

Arrival at Almere Centrum. Because the lights are all green we can speed up to 80km/h directly on departure. There was no speed limit to 40km/h given before arrival. :)

Enjoy the view while driving over a traffic jam on the A1/A6 highway.

Tracks from the Hilversum direction joining in. Welcome in Weesp.

1:51:40 Muiderspoorbrug + Gaasperdammerweg Aansluiting
A splitting point for the tracks in the Amsterdam Centraal and Amsterdam Zuid direction.

1:55:14 Diemen Zuid
Time to do some track cleaning. Right after Diemen Zuid we are lead over some switched that aren't used very often during the day. Driving over it makes dure the tracks stay clear of rust.

On the upper deck the tracks from Utrecht to Amsterdam Centraal are crossing our path.

The tracks from the Utrecht direction towards Schiphol joining in on the left.

The last stop before this videos final destination.

Tracks from Amsterdam Sloterdijk joining in on the right.

2:05:13 Schiphol Airport
Running into the Schipholtunnel. Slowing down the train in a bit before arriving at the airport. After this we continued towards The Hague. But it was too dark for the recording. ICM doesn't have very bright head lights. Therefor this is the final stop for this video.
