Bleeding And Bruising In the Ear Canal (Haemoglobin Breakdown Explained)

Описание к видео Bleeding And Bruising In the Ear Canal (Haemoglobin Breakdown Explained)

In this video we see trauma to the ear canal caused by cotton buds (Q-tips), resulting in laceration of the skin and haematoma (bruising). When red blood cells leak out of blood vessels into tissue, they are broken down by white blood cells called macrophages. Haemoglobin (a protein found abundantly in red blood cells) is broken down into haem, then biliverdin (green) and finally bilirubin (yellow). This explains the changing colour of a bruise over time, hemosiderin is also produced giving a bruise it’s final brown colour before fading.
