First Impression
The amazing thing about a group of collectors collecting these types of models is that it always shows the attention to detail, not only the actual model, but also the decals. And it is what one sees on looking at this model for the first time. Seeing images of the model does not show the details until one opens the box and sees that detail. There exists a group of these great Aussie built commodores produced in the last few years that continues to astonish those collectors who collect these types of models.

The Body
Made with die-cast metal, what is the first thing one notices are the different panels that open and close. On this model, there are the 4 doors, bonnet and trunk. First one looks at the gaps between the panels. Are they the same gap all around the panel? It needs to fit tight, but not too close, so as to not make the panel open and close as wide as possible. On our model, all the opening and closing panels have a tight fit and also open wide to allow one to see the details. So let's forget those amazing decals, and look at the model and all those other features. The grill and lights setup is typical Commodore, with the general body shape being the same as the stock model, but with those additions that are needed to make this a Bathurst car. The details showing those small items, such as the fuel cap, that allow the quick filling of the fuel, as well as the safety screen in the driver's window. The addition of the rear air spoiler, as well as the wheel rims, are also available, so that amount of detail is so real, that one would think they were off the shelf of your local Holden dealer. Then there are those decals. Completely accelerate down to the smallest one. Checking against the real car shows how the designers of these models take incredible cars, to ensure the model is as accurate as the enthusiasts' expectations. Overall, the models panels are tight, decals are of a high quality, as well as their placement,

The Interior
Well, not much to talk about here. We have the typical Australian racing car with all those roll bars and other safety items, such as fire extinguishers and other fire safety features. Attention to other details like steering wheels and gear shift are to scale. Overall, the interior is similar to other models of this series.
The Engine
This is the most impressive area of this model. When one looks and sees the amount of delta, that even extends to the decals on the engine, as well as the engine bay. What attention to even the smallest detail. This ranks as one of the best detailed engines I have seen on this type of model. It also allows that cover on the engine, to allow you to see the carburettor. Overall, as detailed for the scale of the model, you can get.

The Undercarriage
One of the least portion of any model discussed. As this in most cases is never seen, unless one displays it on a mirror base, the details of our model continue to pay attention to the areas on top of the model. Engine details show the complete lower areas of the engine, as well as the gearbox details. Detailed suspension and also the front wheels can be operated by the steering wheel. Full exhaust comes directly from the engine and continues right to the exhaust outlets.

The Conclusion
It does not matter what scale of model you collect. What is important to those serious collectors, is the amount of detail that has been put into each model. We collectors can be a very demanding set of people. We know what to look for, and it's those makers, like this maker, that collectors will buy from. This model continues the development of models like this. It is to be remembered that these 1997 models are extremely rare. So models like this with all those decals, are available in limited editions. This is one model, if you don’t have it, to add it to your collection. So it comes as no surprise that on my recommendation ratings, it would get a 5.0 / 5.0. Robin Finlay. 06/06/2024.
