Magdalena, a rustic town in Laguna located 101 kilometers from Manila.
It is known for its Ikawayan Festival and being the set for over 100 movies including many by Fernando Poe, Jr. thus getting the name "Little Hollywood of the Philippines".
But beyond that, the town is rich in history and heritage.
We joined the heritage tour organized by the Advocates for Heritage Preservation to discover the town's cultural attractions, including the centuries old St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church, the iconic Municipio, the Gabaldon school, several shrines dedicated to Emilio Jacinto, and Bahay Laguna, the house of former Governor San Luis.
In between heritage explorations, we were also got to sample some of the local delicacies being sold at its sprawling plaza.
