Crazily busy hour watching trains go by at Reading (UK) station-

Описание к видео Crazily busy hour watching trains go by at Reading (UK) station-

I took this video in the space of one hour at Reading station on the Great Western Mainline. There had been three freight trains break down during the day on the network and everything was in chaos and bunched up. Hence why the station was so insanely busy. One of the broken down freights even gets dragged through the station by another freight, making a pretty impressive sight.
Reading station was thoroughly modernised as part of the Great Western electrification project. Unfortunately, whilst paints a fantastic picture of what can be achieved on the UK rail network, the UK seems to be allergic to completing big infrastructure projects properly. The sections from Didcot to Oxford, Cardiff to Swansea, Chippenham to Bath and Bristol, Bristol Parkway to Bristol Temple Meads and a couple of branches north of Reading had been cancelled. Brand new overhead line equipment that had already been been ordered for this was scrapped before even being used (a massive scandal that has never really been properly addressed). This means that all trains that run on the cancelled sections (i.e. anything that isn't Paddington to Reading, Swindon, Chippenham or Cardiff) has to be bi-mode. A massive embarrassment, considering most other countries in the world can manage to complete electrification projects to their full scope.
