In this video, you will get detailed explanation about Sclerenchyma - a simple Permanent Tissue.
Sclerenchyma are dead mechanical Tissue.
Based on Origin and Structure, Sclerenchyma are of 2 types :
Sclerenchymatous Fibre and Sclereids.
Sclerenchymatous Fibres are group of elongated, pointed cells, which usually occur in group. Based on source and Economic importance, Sclerenchymatous Fibres are of 3 types : Surface Fibres, Bast Fibres and Wood Fibre or Xylary Fibre.
Xylary Fibres are of 2 types : Libriform Fibres and Fibre Tracheids.
Sclereids or Stone cells are also Lignified cells which may occur singly or in group. Based on shape, they are mainly of 2 types : Monomorphic and Polymorphic
Based on shape, Sclereids are of different types like Brachysclereids or Grit cells, Macrosclereids or Rod Cells, Osteosclereids, Astrosclereids or Stellate Sclereids, Trichosclereids, Filiform Sclereids or H shaped Sclereids.
