Ellen Drew given a spanking - Our Wife (1941)

Melvyn Douglas plays a composer who finds himself very popular when he has a hit on his hands in the film Our Wife from 1941. But not only does he attract Ruth Hussey, but his hussey gold digging ex wife Ellen Drew, who decides to break up his relationship in order to win him back. Her plan is to fake a fall downstairs and pretend she is paralysed, but in this dramatic final scene when Melvyn rescues her from a house fire her scheme is finally found out. And there is only one thing to do with a misbehaving madam, and that is give her a darn good spanking. However, Ruth Hussey intervenes when she tells him gentlemen can't strike a lady - but, she says, ladies can and takes over the spanking duties with gusto. Oo er!
