සුපිරි ගුවන් නියමුවාගේ ඉරණම තීන්දු කළ කොටි මිසයිලය | Mi 24 Helicopter Crash | Sri Lanka Air Force

කොටි මිසයිල ප්‍රහාරයේ සැබෑ දර්ශන සහිතයි.

ජයසිකුරු සේනාවන් කනගරායන්කුලමේ සිරවී සිටියදී ඊසානදිග මෝසම් වැස්ස සක්‍රිය වූ බැවින් දෙපාර්ශවයටම ආක්‍රමණශීලී මෙහෙයුම් කරා එළඹෙන්නට හැකියාවක් ලැබුණේ නැහැ. මේ අතර වව්නියාවේ සිට අලිමංකඩ දක්වා සෙබළුන් පිරිසක් ප්‍රවාහනය කරමින් තිබූ එම්.අයි. 17 හෙලිකොප්ටර් සමූහයකට ආරක්ෂාව සපයමින් පියාසර කළ එම්.අයි. 24 හෙලිකොප්ටරයකට මිසයිල ප්‍රහාරයක් එල්ල කොට එය විනාශ කර දමන්නට ත්‍රස්තවාදීන් සමත් වුණා. අංක 9 බලඝණයේ පළමු ලාංකික පියාසර පුහුණු උපදේශකයා වූ ස්කොඩ්‍රන් ලීඩර් තිළිණ කළුාරච්චිට සිය ජීවිතය අහිමි කළ එම අවාසනාවන්ත ගුවන් ගමනේ කතාවයි මේ.

CH 619 Mi 24 has been tasked to escort three Mi 17s carrying 90 Army personnel, from Vavuniya to Elephant Pass on 10th November 1997. A small LTTE group that had infiltrated the defences of the military successfully shot down the Mi 24 Helicopter which was piloted by Squadron Leader Thilina Kaluarachchi and Flying Office Dhanesh Gunasekara, when it was crossing Kokkilai lagoon. The senior subaltern had sacrificed his life on the scene and the junior subaltern later succumbed to the filled lungs.
