大家平安吉祥
Peace and joy to you all.
今天和各位講心能轉境
Today I want to talk about the mind
can transform an external state.
心是在內部的
The mind is internal.
我內部的心
My mind is internal,
境是外面的外境
while objects are external.
就這個世間
In this world,
房屋、山河大地都是外境
houses, mountains, rivers and land
are external phenomena.
我們平常生活
In our regular lives,
受外面的境界轉動我們自己
we're easily affected by an external stage.
比方說下雨了 不方便
Say for example, when it rains,
we feel inconvenient.
太陽曬得很熱
In sunny day, we feel hot;
太冷啦
in a cold spell, we feel cold.
這個境界可以轉變我們
The external stage could change us.
或者說人家請客
When I join a feast,
沒有給我一個好的位置
if I'm not arranged
to sit in the best seat,
或者人家開會
or perhaps in a meeting,
一句話人家傷了我
the remarks of someone hurt me,
這個外境我不能忍受
I cannot endure external phenomena
like this.
它會轉動我
It just turns me over,
讓我煩惱、讓我罣礙
making me full of defilement
and hindrance.
這個外境的力量很大
The power of external phenomena
is very great.
像財、色、名、食、睡
Like wealth, sex, fame, food, sleep,
金錢可以誘惑我們
money could allure us.
美色也是會誘惑我們
So do beauty,
財、色
wealth, sex,
名位也會誘惑我們
fame and position.
所以我們每天給五欲誘惑
So we are allured by the
five desires every day.
我們也貪財、好色
We also covet after wealth, sex,
有好的美味我就想吃
or want to eat tasty food,
好的衣服我就想穿
or wear nice clothes.
我就受外面的境界動搖我自己
I am subject to the external stage
that shakes us.
我自己的真心沒有把握
I have no hold of my own sincere mind.
外面一點風吹草動
Even the slightest disturbance
一句話我聽了不高興
like remarks that I dislike
我飯也吃不下
will make me lose appetite
我覺也睡不著
and become sleepless.
這個境界轉動我的心
The stage turns my mind.
所以這就是一個人沒有修行
So if a man has no practice,
心太沒有力量
and his mind has no power,
隨便給外境牽動
he will be easily affected
by external phenomena,
人家說給人家牽著鼻子走
or led around by the nose.
沒有自主
He has no self-determination.
心是我們的主人
The mind is our master.
心可以轉變一切境界
The mind could change all the stages,
不要為境界所轉
but will not get changed by the stages.
你罵我
Even you scold me,
我不計較
I do not care.
為什麼
Why?
真是我不好嗎
If it really because I am not good enough,
不好我就改過
I can reform myself
我沒有不好
so that I become perfect.
《四十二章經》說
The Sutra of Forty-two Chapters says:
你罵人
you scold
如仰天而唾 唾不至天
This is like spitting up into the air.
The spit can't reach the sky,
還跌到自己的面上
but it falls back on your own face.
如逆風揚塵
This is also like sweeping dust.
那個塵不會飄了走
Instead of being blown to elsewhere,
又噴到自己身上來
the dust is blown onto your body.
等於我送禮給人
This is also like sending a gift.
人家不接受
If others do not accept it,
不接受那我就要自己拿回來啦
you have no choice but to take it back.
所以你自己心裡要想著
So you need to think in your mind
like this:
人家罵我了
If others scold me,
不要計較
don't be too calculating.
人家欺負我了、批評我了
If others bully or criticize me,
上什麼當
or set me up,
他有他的因果
he has his own causality.
我有則改之 無則加勉
Correct the mistakes you've committed,
avoid them if you have not.
所以我們在人生的生活當中
So in our lives,
自己要能做主
we need to be able to act on our own.
我的心可以轉動境界
So that my mind could turn the stage
境界要聽我的話
and make it fall under my control
我不要聽境界的話
rather than we being controlled by it.
境界聽你的話
The stage is controlled by you.
所以我就覺得人生
So I feel that in my life,
就有主張
I've my own view
就有立場
and stance,
就有快樂
that gives me happiness.
