Sock Knitting: Picking up Heel Flap Stitches with a Garter Stitch Edge

Описание к видео Sock Knitting: Picking up Heel Flap Stitches with a Garter Stitch Edge

Purls of Wisdom from the Bearded Purl Podcast, a Podcast about the fiber arts and other crafty shenanigans.

Justin shows you the steps for how to pick up stitches on a heel flap with a garter stitch border. This method makes a really nice pickup edge for the heel flap as well as closing the corner stitches to avoid any gaps that may show up.

Knitting a garter stitch edge to any heel flap is a great way to create a nice clean finish on each side. This allows for a very clear and straightforward spot to pickup each stitch on the heel flap edge through the purl bumps of the garter.
Add this edge to any heel flap by taking the first and last three stitches of your heel flap and knitting them in garter stitch, while maintaining the pattern in the remaining stitches. Knit the heel turn as instructed.
